There are certain times of the year when we stop and think about all the things that make us happy or bring us joy. Some people even make a list of these things. In English, we have a saying for this: to count your blessings. When we count our blessings, we note all the wonderful things in our lives. This helps us to appreciate how good life is. Counting your blessings is important.

It shows that you are grateful. Gratitude is a feeling of appreciation or thanks. When people count their blessings, they can say it like this: “I am thankful for my family. I am thankful for my friends. I am thankful for my health.”

It is better to be grateful for our blessings than to take them for granted. When we take something for granted, we do not appreciate it. Sometimes we are not appreciative of our good fortune and blessings until they are gone.

I have a choice. I can either count my blessings or my problems. Counting my blessings causes my problems to shrink, and soon I forget they exist. Counting my problems makes my blessings shrink, and soon I forget that I have any. When I don’t count my blessings, they disappear from my mind. Although they are still there, if I don’t think about them, I forget about them. Each day I need to remind myself of my blessings to keep them active in my mind. When I wake up in the morning. I decide whether I am going to count my blessings or my problems. That decision set the tone for my entire day. The best way to fill my cup with joy is to turn on my Good finder and rediscover my blessings.

“Count your blessings” isn’t just 3 simple words, it’s also three powerful words that can be filled with prayer, feelings, strength, and courage. Understanding the meaning of these words and then using them correctly helps us multiply the blessings around us. Every day make a list of at least 10 things that you are thankful for. It takes just 5 minutes to make the list, even if some of the blessings get repeated don’t stop. Keep doing it regularly and you will be surprised at how smoothly all your problems and complaints start disappearing from your world.

So, instead of wasting time and energy on complaining, count your blessings and spend a few minutes simply writing and counting the positive things you are blessed with. You may even decide to write one separate thank-you note each, for health, relationship, money, job, knowledge, and future goals. This provides immense mental strength and peace. In fact, making a list of blessings may even surprise you that you had many things to be thankful for yet all this time you’ve been complaining.
