Day 243 (Two-Hundred & Forty-Three) of 365 days
The world is full of mysteries since the beginning of time; there have been several incidences that boggle our minds. Folk stories have been handed down to us explaining some of these mysteries, but they cannot fully explain the true meaning of certain life mysteries. The world is interesting and amazing. Several events occur every day with some being good while others are bad. However, some of these things go beyond our understanding. That is why many people simply conclude that these events are the mysteries of life.
Of all the mysteries of life, what puzzles people the most is the mystery of self. Everyone keeps on asking himself, who am I, where do I come from, where am what and I going is my purpose on earth. All these questions baffle everyone at one point in life. For centuries, several scientists have tried to understand life; Isaac Newton explained the nature of forces and motion using three laws. Charles Darwin explained the diversity of species, while Mendeleyev defined family composition. Watson and Crick explained the molecular foundation of life, but none of them has defined what life is.
We see many strange events, for instance, people are born every day while others die the same day. When I observe all these, it is not surprising that we wonder if there is permanence in life. It works in crazy ways and it always keeps you on your feet. Right when you think life is somewhat stable, a challenge comes your way with a big honking smile. I’ve had this state of mind since I was a young girl. I believe in karma and that for every good thing that happens, there is a bad that follows. However, I took this with a grain of salt and turned this way of thinking into something positive. Whenever something unfortunate would happen, I would just know that something shortly would make up for it. When it came to love, however, I just didn’t understand it. I figured you would find someone who you would become emotionally attached to, then life would happen and somehow feelings would fade and it would all become a big waste of time.
The mystery of life is so enormous it takes my breath away and leaves me speechless. It’s not some riddle I will one day unravel, but real magic to be marvelled at. It’s not darkness my intellect can illuminate, but a dazzling radiance so splendid that my most brilliant ideas seem dull. I may go about my daily life as if I know what’s going on, but the truth is I don’t know what life is. Nobody does.
Human beings have created a mountain of words to explain the nature of reality, but under all the words the mystery of life remains as magnificent as ever.
Life is a mystery about which we tell stories. We all have a personal story about what life is, which we use to help us navigate our lives. A story that helps us understand what's going on... that gives us a sense of who we are... that gives life meaning. Our stories are wonderful.
We need a story to help us understand life because if we didn’t have a life narrative we’d be lost. The problem is that we can easily mistake the storey for reality. We can invest so heavily in our beliefs about life that we forget that we don’t know what life is. We can become so caught up in our opinions that we miss the breathtaking mystery. And when this happens, life becomes mundane and empty of wonder.
