Selfishness is an act that is hated entirely, by everyone or everywhere. But, at the same time, it is the reality that humans are intrinsically selfish. Go anywhere in the world, no matter how altruistic people you meet, you will find them being selfish for one reason or another. Selfishness exists everywhere. For instance, when we help needy people it gives us contentment more than than the poor. A teacher is the most respected and selfless personality whose only aim is to impart knowledge and work on the character building of his students, when his students perform good, no one feels more ecstatic than him. Was he selfish the whole time? No, because a selfless good deed never exists.

The world is plagued with poverty, disease, drugs, crime and ignorance. Yet, the most destructive is selfishness. People think, work and make decisions based only on what they want. People live as if the effects of their decisions are not important. All that's important is one's success, comfort and pleasure. If that means destroying others, too bad. What's worse is that most look the other way because they want self-gain, too.

From what I have observed in society recently, there seems to be a rise in people saying something along the lines of "Starting right now, I'm going to just focus on me. I've done enough for people who don't do anything back for me." When did doing good things for others turn into a stipulation? Should one only do good things for other people if they are going to get something in return? And if you are only doing something because you feel entitled to some sort of return, is it even truly good of you to do anymore?

Although selfishness, most times, aid in one's self-growth. You leave a company you've been ingrained in and wholly depends on you for major tasks and deliverables to pursue your personal goals and objectives. Companies are selfish enough to lay of important workers to cut costs, drive growth, and did in the company reaching its quest. However, one thing should be noted when it feels like your action feels selfish, how does this change not only your positive narrative but also those around you, those who love you unconditionally, those who root for you.

Checking this helps ensure your motives or moves are not deemed selfish. In Economics, the major human driving factor is self-interest. In the wild, the major instinct is self-survival. On a collective side and in the long run, these factors contribute to the growth of their contextual space. Everyone being all selfish and pursuing their self profitability eventually leads to a good for all - Capitalism is an instance. The collective play of self-survival in the wild ensures the circle of life moves on and cycle around.

Behind every motive or action is an iota of selfishness. Find a way this selfishness can be substituted for doing good for those around people you love. This has a great promise of developing social trust, economic development, and human prosperity.
