Day 268 (Two-Hundred & Sixty-Eight) of 365 days
They say that age is a mark of intelligence and with time you will gather experiences that will create your life. In my life, as short as it may be, I have been fortunate enough to go through the experiences that make up a typical teenager. Thinking back to how my life began and seeing where I am now, it seems that the paths I have chosen to take are that of some intelligence. My interpretation of intelligence may be different from that of another’s, but I believe it to be an accurate definition. Not only does being "book smart" gets you somewhere in life, but it is also how you apply your knowledge and common sense to it.
Knowing between right and wrong was the hardest part of making a wise decision. Whether it was staying home on a Friday night studying, or going out to a huge party. Which one would you choose? I am not the only one that would choose the party too. Just wanting to be "cool" and hanging out with everyone who was assumed to be in the "In-Crowd" was what everyone wanted to do the most. Wanting to fit in, usually take a toll on your life. Being able to say no to drugs, drinking and driving made an effect on how the "In-Crowd" would think of you. Getting involved with different sorts of students like that also changes the way you think.
Intelligence is being able to function as a regular human being and being able to do the things in life that will propel you forward. Intelligence is doing something productive with your life. One may not have the means to achieve their life goals, but intelligence us having those goals in the first place. Intelligence, in my own opinion, is not necessarily a quality that one is born with. Someone can be born naturally intelligent, and others develop intelligence as they grow up.
An intelligent person applies his knowledge to various real-world problems. One can prove his intelligence by attaining a high intelligence quotient but he also needs to apply his skill set to real-world problems. Intelligent people are the ones who are ready to accept criticism and can contribute to society.
In life, everyone has faced challenges at one time or another. Intelligent people never leave any opportunity to find a solution to their problem. They are never afraid to face challenges. They believe in having a positive mindset and in developing problem-solving skills. They accept criticism positively and utilize it to pave their path towards success.
Who says you can't be intelligent without money? Intelligence is a mental aspect and has nothing to do with money; agreed, money can get you a better education, but that does not equate with intelligence at all. Even if you have a basic education of the ability to read, you can become intelligent by merely reading a lot and gathering knowledge. The books require money, but these can be borrowed from places like free libraries or mobile libraries. I have known people with very high educational qualifications but when it comes to making an intelligent decision at the workplace, they are not up to the mark.
So we may earn a lot of money but to acquire intelligence needs more than money. To some extent, you indeed need money to become educated but education alone doesn’t ensure intelligence, it needs passion and willingness to learn to be intelligent. Otherwise, people get an education just to hold a job and that’s all.
