Day 82 (Eighty-two) of 365 days
Why do we overthink things? Why do we need to second-guess what is really going on with what we think is going on? How many times have you received a text message from someone that was pretty straightforward, but you feel to read into their deeper message?
Let’s be honest for a second, we are all guilty of such things. Whether it’s a flirty conversation with a guy or a rude text from a friend, we always think there is an alternative meaning behind these people’s words.
We are dying from overthinking. We are slowly killing ourselves n=by thinking about everything. You can never trust the human mind anyway. It’s a death trap.
Overthinking prevents us from taking action. It consumes our energy, disables our ability to make decisions, and puts us in a loop of thinking. It prevents us from doing new things and making progress in our lives.
It’s like tying yourself to a rope that is connected to a pole and going in an eternal spiral-like-circle. The trick to counter overthinking, however, is by actually catching ourselves in the act. Countering overthinking means we must be present with our thoughts. Only then can we launch initiatives to stop overthinking in its tracks.
Your thoughts are with you always and you are the only one that can decide whether you will let them get the best of you or make them the best YOU. Don’t stop overthinking completely — Just the things that you know are not worth your time and that takes away from those precious hours of sleep when your head is finally in the resting world.
