Don’t watch the clock, rather do what it does — Keep moving

As I begin typing, I’m practically twitching with excitement knowing that this marks the 370th time I am writing a post for this blog. It’s crazy to think that this all began with a new year post on my WhatsApp status — a post that allowed me to finally release my thoughts and feelings after years of not doing so.

Over the years, I let you into my life in the hopes that you would read my posts and think, “Wow, someone finally gets it,” because I know how it is to feel like no one does. I know how hard it is to feel completely alone, and I wanted to help people feel like someone was there for them. (I hope I succeeded, so far.)

From struggling with getting through one more semester of school to getting through one more day, there is always a reason to keep going. I hope you find it (and more) right here and now.

When the challenges come, as they will, you get a choice, to crumble and fall or get up and keep going no matter what. Whatever life throws at you it is imperative that you keep going no matter what. You’ve got to be tough, stand up to those things you face, stay resilient and just keep going. We all face times where we begin to question the things we do, what we are trying to achieve. We question ourselves and doubt what we are actually going to achieve in our life.

Most of you right now probably lead lives full of stress and struggling with your every day challenges. Fighting for survival. Getting to the point of just accepting life will never work out as you once dreamed. Many of you can’t even remember those dreams. Consider the fullness of life and don’t be one-dimensional, i.e., ‘trapped’ by your work and life. Go for your dreams, and endure so you keep going no matter what. Never forget life is a journey. You need to carry on if you want to reap the rewards.

Yes, it is true, pain, fear, and failure can be undeniable paralyzing feelings. When you are in pain or hurt, all you want is the entire world to stop turning. Or when you feel rejected, you wonder what could be wrong with you, and you begin building resentment. You want to give in rather than keep going. But the one thing that is unfortunate about life is that it keeps on moving. It goes on no matter what happens in your life. And so, you have to carry on also, persevere, if you want to do yourself an excellent service.

Perhaps, the fact of the matter is that you got happy and excited about an incident, chance, opportunity or even possibility which did not work out the way you planned. You fell in love with someone who did not feel the same as you did. And it just did not happen because that is life.

I remembered after announcing a rejection message I got from a firm last year to a friend and he told me that I have to realize that, for every eight times I hit, I strike out of the park at least once. But that one hit may just be worth all the smashes in the world. Then I realized the solution here is not to over-analyze why it happened or if you are good enough. It is rather to get back up and keep going. You need to prove to yourself that you can do it no matter what life throws at you. It means taking risks, the ones you are afraid of making and get back out there. I’ve got a lot of rejection mails, but I keep applying. It wasn’t me that was rejected but my application was!

Be careful with what you say to your inner-self and others around you when great things happen. Time and again, you might hear yourself say: “Impossible!”, “No way!” or “Not true.” As an answer to pleasant or good things, you did not expect. Rather say something like “Yes. Thank you. More of it please; so keep it coming my way.” Always remember to be grateful and give credits when due. You should never underestimate the power of the words “I am,” “I can” and “Yes” do have. Use them again and again while welcoming the good into your life and keep going.

Sometimes you get so beaten down it feels like you’re all alone. It’s you against the world. Nothing is going right. People are mean, nothing good happens. There’s just one thing after another shoving you down a hole, and once you get to a certain point in that hole you can’t go back. You keep falling down and getting back up again, and again until you feel like you can’t get back up anymore. You’re just too tired. You’ve been fighting for too long. You’re tired of the battle, and you just want to rest for one minute. For one long minute, you close your eyes and the battle is over. For 60 seconds. But that one-minute is all it takes for them to shove you down that hole.

Ending an unhealthy behavior or creating a new, exciting one is all about taking responsibility for our lives. Finding the motivation to do it isn’t necessarily easy, but it is always possible. You can stay motivated by writing down your goals, sticking to your schedule, and reminding yourself of what led you to set your goal in the first place. Change is exciting — we’d all be very bored without it.

Good luck in reaching your goals! There are so many people rooting for you even if you can’t see it.
