KEEP GROWING
Day 337 of 365 days
One will never stop growing throughout his or her life. It doesn’t matter if it’s necessary or not, one can’t stop it. New things are learned every single day without our acknowledgement until one day we look back and realize how much we’ve grown. Struggles that we face and errors that we make help us grow into who we are. Not only do we grow by ourselves, but societies also do too. Although growth usually happens through struggle and mistakes, growth is utterly necessary for a happy and productive life.
By reviewing the experiences that a person has gone through, how they have dealt with them and how they have led them to where he or she is to this day can determine if he or she had a happy and productive life. Many believe that the meaning of life is just having enough food, drink and somewhere to sleep as a way to survive but it is not so. As humans, we can better ourselves through learning. These lessons, not needing to be in the sense of academics, make us grow into ourselves. The more we learn, the better our life would be.
Remember when we were young and all we could think of was growing up and getting to do ‘grownup’ things? We spent our whole childhood thinking of what we would do when we finally ‘grew up, and here we are, almost completely grown up and we still haven’t made up our mind of what it is we will do when we grow up. We’ve painted this pretty little picture in our head of what it’ll be like when we eventually do grow up, and when it finally comes for the picture to be taken off the wall and put into action, it’s not nearly as fun as creating the painting. “Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional.”
Growing up is not about what is wrong and what is right but it is about taking responsibility for yourself and dealing with the consequences and living your ambitions and dreams. So basically being a grown-up is about how you deal with situations maturely. Growing up is not an easy process we must all go through in life.
Growing up is something that I look bittersweet about. It’s great that I am going to have a responsibility and have more control of my life, but it also scars me. What if I fail? What if I make those bad decisions? Responsibility isn’t hard but it’s something I have to get used to. Having a job is great. You have money, you have a responsibility, but I can’t say "Well, I don’t feel like working today so I’m not going in". It is a commitment and maybe that’s something that I had a problem with simply because of a feeling of being trapped. The feeling that you have an obligation that you must keep.
Growing up is never easy and can be quite difficult in many cases. However, from proper support from those around us solutions can always be found for the obstacles that may stand in our way. Through the journey of growing up, we develop a sense of maturity and individuality which sets us apart from those surrounding us.
